Dr. Djamel F. H. Sadok is a full professor of computer networks at the computing centre of the Universidade Federal de Pernambuco.
I obtained by PhD from the University of Kent at Canterbury (UK) in 1990. After a short passage in industry I joined UCL as a research fellow where I worked with protocol security for two years prior to moving to UFPE in 1992 as a lecturer. I have supervised more than 70 master and 15 PhD research students.
Currently I am also a researcher (level 1C) for the Brazilian research agency CNPq. I lead a research group in the area of computer networks and telecommunications (see www.gprt.ufpe.br). Professor Sadok published more than 350 scientific publications and 12 international industrial patents.
Ou research team develops innovative solutions in the area of Networks and Telecommunications. Success stories include the development of: an advanced CDN simulator; a packet classification engine capable of handling 40 Gbps online traffic measurement; Sonic router with support for low latency service (L4S); Linux data plane optimization tool, etc. Areas of interest include: a) development of intelligent x-apps applications for 5G OpenRAN (high availability and energy consumption monitoring); b) data plane optimization; c) integration of low latency L4S architecture in radio network (5G RAN and WiFi); In addition to having filed more than 12 patents, the group is involved in research projects with academic and industry partners.
Throughout my career I sought to maintain strong links with the Industry through a number of joint research and development projects. I also worked hard to establish a number of international partnership projects, especially with Europe. I coordinated three EU-Brazil consortia as part of the FP7 research program cooperation with CNPq.
